Technology optimizes contrast and clarity in welding and light states, reducing eye strain. Miller Electric Mfg. Co., a leading worldwide manufacturer of arc welding equipment, is expanding its ClearLight Lens Technology to all digital welding helmets. ClearLight optimizes clarity for welding operators so they can produce better welds with less rework.
ClearLight™ Lens Technology is a high- definition optics for precision arc recognition. It is designed by welders, for welders. Engineered to complement the colors emitted from the welding arc for enhanced clarity and natural color — so that you can see more detail. “To achieve the perfect weld, operators need to be able to clearly see their work. ClearLight Lens Technology optimizes contrast and clarity in both welding and light states — so operators see natural color tones and get a crisp, high-definition view of the workpiece,” said Sam Harvey, Product Manager — Welding Safety & Health, Miller Electric Mfg. Co. “This innovative helmet technology reduces eye fatigue, increases productivity and improves performance.”
Previously, only available in Miller® T94™ Series auto-darkening helmets, ClearLight has now been expanded to all Miller digital helmets to include Digital Infinity™, Digital Elite™ and Digital Performance™ models.
ClearLight Lens Technology enhances clarity by allowing more colors to come through the lens. Where other lenses often produce a view with a greenish-yellow or blue tint, a ClearLight lens provides truer colors during welding. This means operators see more contrast among objects in the viewing area, resulting in reduced eye strain and fatigue. In addition, the 1/1/1/2 optical clarity rating of ClearLight lenses allows a true 3.0 light state. This brighter light state when the operator isn’t welding enhances the ability for operators to keep their hood down as much as possible, which improves safety and productivity.

Lens Tint Matters ClearLight Lens Technology allows more colors of the visible light spectrum to come through the lens for natural, accurate tones. Many other lenses have an artificial blue or yellow tint, which doesn’t provide as much contrast or clarity and can lead to increased eye fatigue.

Brightness Counts Auto-darkening welding lenses block light even when a welder isn’t striking an arc. ClearLight Lens Technology is designed to minimize light blockage — giving welders a brighter light state to see their surroundings.
Our 1/1/1/2 optical clarity rating provides a 3.0 light state that allows welders to keep the helmet down in between welds and for non- welding tasks, increasing productivity and helping to prevent eye injuries. Learn more by reading the article on new lens enhancements.
